Electronic Visa

1. What is an electronic visa (E-Visa)?

An E-Visa is issued by the Vietnamese Government for foreigners through an online system. With an E-Visa, clients can apply and receive their visa online without visiting an embassy or consulate, saving time and costs.

2. How long is a Vietnam E-Visa valid?

According to the latest regulations, the Vietnam E-Visa for foreign visitors is valid for a maximum of 90 days and can be issued for single or multiple entries.

The validity period and the number of entries will be clearly stated on the issued visa.

3. What are the conditions for obtaining a visa?

The conditions for visa issuance are stipulated in Article 10 of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam (2014, amended in 2019 and 2023), including:

• A valid passport or international travel document.

• Having an agency, organization, or individual in Vietnam to invite or sponsor, except in cases stipulated in Articles 16a, 16b, and Clause 3 of Article 17 of the Law.

• Not falling into the cases of entry prohibition as stipulated in Article 21 of the Law.

• Applicants must provide supporting documents depending on the purpose of entry:
  a. Foreigners entering Vietnam for investment must provide documents proving their investment in accordance with the Law on Investment.
  b. Foreigners practicing as lawyers in Vietnam must hold a valid practicing license in accordance with the Law on Lawyers.
  c. Foreigners entering Vietnam for employment must hold a valid work permit in accordance with the Labor Code.
  d. Foreigners entering Vietnam for study must present an admission letter from a Vietnamese school or educational institution.

• An E-Visa is issued to foreigners holding a valid passport and who are not subject to the restrictions listed in Clauses 1, 2, 3, and 4 of Article 8 of the Law.
