2. Cases that do not require an entry permit

Here is a list of foreigners who do not require an entry permit to enter Vietnam:

Foreigners who have one of the following valid Vietnam entry documents:

• Valid multiple-entry Vietnam visa
• Valid temporary residence card
• Valid permanent residence card
• Valid 5-year visa exemption certificate,
• Valid APEC card with Vietnam listed as one of the countries eligible for entry for work.
• Foreigners entering Vietnam under unilateral or bilateral visa exemption
• Foreigners entering Vietnam with a Vietnam electronic visa (evisa)

Other cases include: foreigners who do not have one of the valid Vietnam entry documents, are not exempt from Vietnam visa and are not eligible for a Vietnam evisa will have to apply for an entry permit to get a Vietnam visa.

3. Conditions for issuing an entry permit for foreigners

To issue an entry permit for foreigners, the following two prerequisites must be met:

• Having a sponsoring company in Vietnam, established and operating legally in Vietnam. These can be:
  • a company with foreign investment capital
  • a state-owned company,
  • a 100% foreign-owned company,
  • a representative office of a foreign trader
  • a Vietnamese tourism company.............
• Not being on the blacklist, meaning the subject has committed one of the following acts:
  • Forgery of documents, false declaration to obtain valid entry, exit, and residence documents.
  • A person with a mental illness or an infectious disease that endangers public health.
  • Being expelled from Vietnam and the deportation decision is still in effect.
  • For reasons of national defense, security, order, and social safety

4. Classification of entry documents

Depending on the criteria, entry documents are classified into different types. Specifically as follows:

According to the purpose of entry, Vietnam entry documents are divided into:
Visa entry documents for tourism (sponsored by a travel company in Vietnam),
Business, business, and work visa entry documents (sponsored by a production or business company in Vietnam)
Visa entry documents for visiting relatives (sponsored by a company in Vietnam with a relative working for them).
According to the location of receiving the visa, Vietnam entry documents are divided into:

6. Fees for applying for an entry permit to Vietnam

The entry permit is issued free of charge.

However, to apply for an entry permit, the sponsoring company will have to pay the following costs:

Cost of preparing documents,
Travel costs to complete the entry permit application procedure.

After receiving the entry permit, the foreigner will affix the visa stamp at the Vietnamese Embassy/Consulate abroad or at the Vietnamese airport upon entry. The specific costs are as follows:

Visa type valid for 1 entry: 25 USD
Visa type valid for multiple entries, with a maximum validity of 3 months: 50 USD.
7. Application for Vietnam entry permit

Application for Vietnam entry permit will vary depending on the subject, specifically as follows:

7.1. Application for entry permit for business or work

This application will be prepared by the company where the foreigner is going to work. The application includes:

Notarized copy of Business Registration Certificate
Form of Entry Request for Foreigners (Form NA2)
Application form for signature and seal of the sponsoring company (Form NA16)
Copy of Foreigner's Passport (Copy)
Letter of introduction for the person submitting the application
Other documents as required.
7.2. Application for entry permit for visiting relatives

This application will be prepared by the company where the foreigner wants to invite relatives to Vietnam. The dossier includes:

Notarized copy of Business Registration Certificate
Form of Entry Application for Foreigners (Form NA2)
Application Form for Signature and Seal of the Sponsoring Company (Form NA16)
A copy of Passport of the foreigner who needs to go to Vietnam
A copy of Passport and Residence Certificate in Vietnam of the foreigner currently in Vietnam
Documents proving the relationship (consularized copy if issued by a foreign country).
Letter of introduction for the person submitting the dossier
Other documents as required.
7.3. Application for Tourist Entry Document

This dossier will be prepared by the tour company organizing tours for foreigners when entering Vietnam. The dossier includes:

Notarized copy of Business Registration Certificate
Form of Entry Application for Foreigners (Form NA2)
Application form for signature and seal of the sponsoring company (Form NA16)
Copy of Passport of the foreigner who needs to go to Vietnam
Travel itinerary in Vietnam
Letter of introduction for the person submitting the application
Other documents as required.
8. Conditions for applying for an entry permit online
